Data Scientist
Job Description
Ford Motor Company is hiring a Data Scientist to help the Manufacturing team turn IIoT data into measurable operational improvements. This on-site role in Louisville, KY focuses on end-to-end work, from ingesting streaming data through MQTT and cloud processing on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to building machine learning models and delivering interactive dashboards and UI experiences.
What you’ll work on
In this position, you will leverage data from manufacturing environments to develop intelligent solutions and support business strategy. The work spans the full data science lifecycle, including data pipelines (ETL/ELT), data cleaning and preprocessing, and advanced analytics and modeling.
- Build and validate machine learning and statistical models to support strategic objectives
- Gather, manage, and analyze structured and unstructured data for reporting and analytics
- Research and apply analytical methodologies and techniques to solve operational problems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define objectives and produce actionable insights
- Interpret and present analytical results to diverse audiences
- Create comprehensive reports, projections, and visual presentations
- Follow established guidelines and contribute to strategic discussions
Core responsibilities
- Develop solutions using Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) and SQL
- Use GCP services such as BigQuery, Google Cloud Storage (GCS), Vertex AI, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, and Dataproc
- Work with data pipelines and integration patterns (ETL/ELT, data cleaning, integration, data mining)
- Apply IIoT concepts and manufacturing environment data to quality control and process optimization
- Use dashboarding and visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Looker, and Python libraries including Dash, Streamlit, and Bokeh
- Support API development responsibilities (basic)
Skills and qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field, or 5+ years of experience in Data Science, IT, Statistics, or a related discipline
- Proficiency with Python, R, SQL (or similar tools and languages)
- Machine learning expertise, including predictive modeling, clustering, and regression (desirable)
- Strong ability to work with structured and unstructured datasets for reporting and modeling
- Excellent communication skills to simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences
- Proven ability to work independently and apply sound judgment on technical approaches

- Salary: USD 86,600 - 144,900 per year
