Data Scientist, Amazon Music - DISCO
Job Description
Amazon Music’s DISCO MPT team is hiring a Data Scientist to build and scale models and science products that improve personalization and customer growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead research and development of models and science products for personalized recommendations
- Partner with product leaders at Amazon Music to develop science-driven business strategies
- Collaborate with science, marketing, and product teams across Amazon Entertainment and subscription businesses
- Educate internal teams on analytics, insights, and measurement
- Develop models to identify drivers of key performance metrics and automate deep dives into variances
- Work with product and engineering teams to evaluate the impact of new features or algorithms (including Playlist Song Recommendation experiments)
- Analyze experiment results and provide recommendations to optimize solutions
- Partner with Senior Data Scientists and Product Managers to define success metrics and guardrail metrics
- Promote experimentation and advanced analytics across the organization
Requirements
- 2+ years of data scientist experience
- 3+ years of experience with data querying languages such as SQL, scripting languages such as Python, or statistical/mathematical software such as R, SAS, Matlab, etc.
- 3+ years of experience with machine learning/statistical modeling data analysis tools and techniques, including parameters that affect performance
- 1+ years of guiding and coaching a group of researchers
- 1+ years of working with or evaluating AI systems
- 1+ years of creating or contributing to mathematical textbooks, research papers, or educational content
- Master’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics), or equivalent STEM experience
- Experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in STEM
- Knowledge of machine learning concepts and their application to reasoning and problem-solving
- Experience in Python, Perl, or another scripting language
- Experience in an ML or data scientist role at a large technology company
- Experience defining and creating benchmarks for assessing GenAI model performance
- Experience working on multi-team, cross-disciplinary projects
- Experience applying quantitative analysis to business problems and data-driven decisions
- Experience communicating complex concepts through written and verbal communication

- Base salary range: USD 136,000 - 184,000 per yearly
