Job Description

Join OpenAI’s Financial Engineering (FinEng) team to help shape how monetization is measured, tested, and improved. This hybrid role is based in San Francisco, CA with three days per week in the office, plus relocation support for eligible employees. Compensation: USD 293,000 - 515,000 per year + offers equity. Base pay may vary based on individualized factors. This role is at-will, and OpenAI may modify base pay and other compensation components based on performance, results, or market conditions.

What you’ll do

  • Define key metrics and guardrails across checkout, payments, subscriptions, and pricing.
  • Design experiments, staged rollouts, and offline incrementality studies.
  • Improve conversion, retention, and involuntary churn.
  • Develop frameworks for pricing, elasticity, FX, and localization.
  • Partner with Data Engineering to build trusted datasets and operational monitoring.
  • Translate complex analysis into recommendations that guide product and business decisions.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor other data scientists.

What you bring

  • 10+ years of experience in data science, experimentation, or product analytics.
  • Experience related to monetization, payments, checkout, subscriptions, or pricing.
  • Advanced SQL and Python skills, plus strong expertise in experimentation and causal inference.
  • A track record of independently leading high-impact, cross-functional analytical work.
  • Strong product judgment, communication skills, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
