Job Description
Rain is seeking a Data Scientist - Fraud Risk to help develop real-time fraud monitoring and risk controls powered by predictive machine learning. This role focuses on fraud risk metrics, operational dashboards, and model-driven safeguards while maintaining a balance between loss savings and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Own fraud risk metrics, dashboards, and reports used to guide business strategy and decisions
- Design and implement real-time monitoring for fraud signals, including alerting thresholds
- Design, simulate, and implement real-time risk controls using both real-time and offline predictive ML models
- Optimize risk controls with an emphasis on loss savings, reduced user friction, and margin improvement
- Partner with go-to-market teams to communicate the technical and business value of risk controls to customers
- Summarize complex analytical outcomes for leadership and non-technical stakeholders
- Support partners when they have fraud concerns related to their traffic
Required Qualifications
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python
- 3+ years of hands-on experience building automated fraud risk strategies and running experimentation (A/B tests), including implementation of real-time and offline predictive ML models
- Ability to design, build, and maintain dashboards and fraud risk metrics
- Capability to operate in ambiguous problem spaces and identify workable solutions
- High autonomy, including effective prioritization of workload
- Relevant quantitative bachelor’s degree or higher (Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, etc.)

Education
