Forward Deployed AI Engineer (In Training)

New York, United States $170k - $210k/yr Full time Posted 6h ago

Job Description

The Forward-Deployed AI Engineer (In Training) role at Turing in New York, United States (onsite) is designed for engineers who want to complete an intensive training placement and then transition into live, full-time client delivery. After finishing an eight-week Turing Akademia program, you will work on Turing Enterprise AI projects where you own client outcomes end to end and build production AI systems.

Overview

In this role, you collaborate with customers to navigate ambiguity and identify high-value opportunities. You then architect and build production AI systems that translate into measurable business impact, covering the full path from discovery through deployment, evaluation, and ongoing operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with customers to clarify workflows, uncover high-value opportunities, and jointly define the business outcomes an AI solution should drive.
  • Design and implement production AI systems, including multi-agent workflows, orchestration, tool use, context engineering, memory and state, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
  • Build the supporting software infrastructure for reliability at scale, including APIs, data pipelines, integrations, and distributed systems.
  • Complete your first Turing Akademia placement by building and demonstrating the required capabilities through intensive, hands-on work.
  • Present work to stakeholders, manage expectations, explain technical decisions, and respond constructively to pushback.
  • Lead solutions from discovery through deployment while staying hands-on and owning evaluation, observability, security, reliability, latency, scalability, and cost.

Requirements

  • 5+ years as a full-stack developer (experience level stated as “Experience Level: 5+ years as a full-stack developer”).
  • Typically 5+ years as a software engineer or full-stack developer building production or near-production systems.
  • Strong production engineering experience.
  • Experience with programming, APIs, databases, backend systems, cloud infrastructure, and software development practices.
  • The ability to explain technical concepts clearly, navigate ambiguity, work with stakeholders, and remain calm under pressure.
  • A track record of taking initiative, solving unstructured problems, responding well to feedback, and learning new technologies quickly.

Technologies

  • Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
  • APIs
  • Data pipelines
  • Distributed systems

Values

  • Client first: clients are central because their success is the measure of value.
  • Start-up speed: move fast, stay agile, and favor action with momentum as the foundation.
  • AI forward: help clients build the future of AI and apply those lessons to your own roles and workflow to amplify productivity.

Advantages of joining Turing

  • Work at the frontier of AI by helping leading AI labs improve advanced models through expert datasets, RL environments, and first-of-a-kind benchmarks.
  • Contribute to leading-edge AI research and showcase work at top conferences such as ICLR, ICML, and NeurIPS.
  • Apply frontier AI innovation to enterprise use cases by translating lessons from leading AI labs into real-world business challenges.
  • Collaborate with exceptional colleagues with deep AI experience from Google, Meta, Amazon, and other leading technology companies.
  • Move at the pace of AI innovation with startup-level speed, ownership, and impact.

Compensation and location

Salary: USD 170,000 - 210,000 per year. Location: New York, United States (onsite).
