Member of Technical Staff – Forward Deployed AI Engineer

MaxIT Consulting - Max Corporate Group is building out advanced agent capabilities for enterprise environments, and this role focuses on turning research-grade ideas into reliable production systems. As a Forward Deployed AI Engineer, you will work close to customer researchers and engineers, guiding implementations from early workflows through deployment and ongoing production use. The work blends practical software engineering with applied AI judgment across agents, evaluations, and real-world reliability.

What you will do

• Build and ship production agent systems for complex enterprise workflows.
• Develop data pipelines, orchestration systems, and evaluation harnesses.
• Run and analyze post-training workflows for customer-specific models and agents.
• Collaborate directly with customer researchers and engineers through implementation to production use.
• Investigate performance problems and determine whether they stem from the model, environment, or evaluation framework.
• Translate customer workflows into robust, testable AI systems.
• Own technical deployments, spanning implementation through production use.

What you bring

• Strong software engineering fundamentals with a demonstrated ability to ship production systems.
• Hands-on experience building agent systems, AI applications, or technical forward-deployed solutions.
• Ability to personally write and own production code.
• Strong understanding of evaluation, agent behavior, and production reliability.
• Ability to work across technologies and learn new stacks as required by the problem.
• Strong communication skills with technical enterprise stakeholders.

Location and work arrangement

The team is based in San Francisco, CA and this role is primarily on-site. There is limited flexibility, which may be considered for exceptional candidates, including experienced candidates elsewhere in the United States, who can spend an initial period working on-site.
