GIS Data Analyst II
Job Description
The City of Tucson Water Utility is seeking a GIS Data Analyst II to gather, analyze, and manage GIS data that supports utility operations and departmental decision-making. The role includes QAQC oversight of GIS edits and contributes to dashboards, data products, and mapping solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform geospatial analyses to support business operations for field technicians, maintenance crews, new area development, and planning and engineering.
- Maintain and create relational databases and data systems, working in a production environment with branch versioning across the utility’s network map.
- Provide quality assurance and quality control (QAQC) oversight for GIS editors’ work to improve data quality through automation or other procedural changes.
- Use extract-transform-load (ETL) tools to mine, combine, or integrate large and disparate datasets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on spatial data projects and coordinate with City IT analysts to manage data stores and ensure data quality.
- Apply statistical methods to identify patterns and relationships in data that inform departmental operations and decisions.
- Publish data to the City data portal for external use in accordance with signed non-disclosure agreements, and create data visualizations and reports for audiences with varying technical backgrounds.
- Develop and review standard operating procedures for periodic tasks and assist with special projects to build and support applications and maps for the Director’s office.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Two (2) years of relevant experience.
- A valid and unrestricted driver’s license, with two (2) years of licensed driving required.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Statistics or Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or another relevant applied analytical field.
