Jr. AI Engineer

Ambe Healthcare Staffing is hiring a Jr. AI Engineer to support a data science and machine learning team building machine learning models that enable data-driven decision-making. This role focuses on developing, training, evaluating, and deploying models, with hands-on work across big data systems, statistical analysis, and natural language processing.

The position is based in Salt Lake City, UT and is performed in person, supporting cloud-based deployment workflows and collaboration with data engineers and researchers.

Role Summary

As a Jr. AI Engineer, you’ll work across machine learning and analytics tasks, including predictive modeling, scalable model training and deployment on cloud platforms such as AWS, and applied NLP and generative AI development. You will also contribute to evaluation activities using statistical modeling and performance metrics.

Responsibilities

• Assist with designing and implementing machine learning models for predictive modeling analysis using frameworks such as TensorFlow and other AI tools.
• Support model training, evaluation, and deployment to maintain high performance and scalability on cloud platforms like AWS.
• Collaborate with data engineers to develop ETL pipelines, manage SQL databases, and optimize big data systems using Hadoop, Spark, and related technologies.
• Perform statistical analysis for research using tools such as R or SAS to extract insights from complex datasets.
• Contribute to NLP initiatives by developing algorithms that interpret and generate human language using generative AI techniques.
• Assist in designing database schemas and linked data architectures to support efficient data mining and analytics workflows.
• Participate in model evaluation by applying statistical modeling techniques, validation procedures, and performance metrics to support accuracy and reliability.

Requirements

• Proficiency in programming languages including Python, Java, C, or Bash (Unix shell) for AI development and automation tasks.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, Spark MLlib, or similar tools for scalable AI model development.
• Knowledge of cloud-based machine learning services on AWS (or comparable providers) for model deployment and management.
• Familiarity with big data technologies including Hadoop, Spark implementation, and data mining techniques for large-scale analytics.
• Strong understanding of statistical analysis tools, including R or SAS, for research-driven insights and model validation.
• Ability to design efficient SQL databases and perform complex SQL queries for data retrieval and analysis.
• Exposure to NLP, generative AI models, or quantum engineering is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills focused on scalability, model evaluation, and continuous improvement of AI systems.
