Job Description

In Jersey City, Deloitte seeks a hands-on leader to drive applied AI engineering across high-visibility initiatives, turning complex ideas into scalable, value-driven solutions. This on-site role emphasizes engineering craft, cross-functional collaboration, and strong customer outcomes, with a salary range of USD 118,700 to 243,700 per year and a bachelor’s degree requirement guiding the ideal profile.

Responsibilities

  • Champion accountability for customer and business outcomes by designing lean, high-quality engineering solutions that address complex problems and deliver measurable value.
  • Serve as the technical advocate for products, ensuring code integrity, feasibility, and alignment with business and customer goals. Lead requirement analysis, low-level architecture and component design, development, testing, integrations, and support.
  • Own the architectural integrity and stack alignment with enterprise standards. Manage dependencies, code design, quality, data, and ongoing maintenance and operations; stay hands-on, continuously learn, create specifications, write maintainable code, and mentor peers through code reviews.
  • Develop lean engineering solutions through rapid, inexpensive experimentation to meet customer needs. Engage with customers and product teams before, during, and after delivery to ensure the right solution is delivered at the right time.
  • Adopt a bias toward action and incremental delivery, navigating complexity with a forward-leaning approach to produce lean, supportable solutions.
  • Collaborate with product management, experience, and delivery teams. Integrate diverse perspectives to balance feasibility, viability, usability, and value, fostering a collaborative environment that drives innovation.
  • Demonstrate advanced technical proficiency in modern software practices and AI and Agentic SSDLC, delivering daily product deployments with full automation from discovery to production to operations and quality checks.
  • Acquire domain knowledge quickly, translating business needs and UX/UI designs into technical specifications and code; be a flexible, quality-focused teammate who helps reduce tech debt.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and persuasively, influencing teammates and product teams with evidence-based trade-offs and coherent narratives aligned to business goals.
  • Engage with product engineering teams at all levels and with customers as needed, fostering a culture of co-creation and momentum toward product goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, data science, machine learning, or related field; education is a baseline consideration.
  • 6+ years of experience with most of the following: Angular, React, NodeJS, Python, C#, .NET, Java, SQL/NoSQL, PyTorch, TensorFlow, LangChain, LangGraph, plus unit testing frameworks.
  • 3+ years building AI/ML applications with hands-on GenAI experience across LLM integration (OpenAI, Anthropic, or open-source models), RAG pipelines, prompt engineering, and vector databases.
  • 3+ years cloud-native engineering using FaaS, PaaS, or micro-services on Azure, AWS, or GCP, including AI/ML services such as Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, or Vertex AI.
  • 1+ years establishing engineering standards, including actively mentoring and guiding team members in adopting and improving these standards.
  • Background in software engineering with understanding of Business Context Diagrams, sequence/activity/state/entity diagrams, OOP/OOD, data structures, algorithms, code instrumentation, and AI-augmented spec-driven development.
  • Experience using XP, Lean, DevSecOps, SRE, ADO, GitHub, SonarQube, MLflow and agentic AI frameworks (for example LangFuse, LangSmith, or similar multi-agent orchestration tools) to deliver high-quality products rapidly.
