Job Description
FreeWheel, a Comcast company, is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer 1 in New York, NY to design, develop, and maintain backend and machine learning applications for FreeWheel Buyer Cloud. This onsite role focuses on building production-ready systems across cloud infrastructure and data services using Python and modern DevOps tooling.
Role overview
- Design, develop, and maintain Optimization and Machine Learning applications for FreeWheel Buyer Cloud.
- Build back-end software in Python, manage code with Git, and perform container orchestration with Kubernetes across AWS and cloud-agnostic environments.
- Work with relational databases, write SQL queries, and use Snowflake, Databricks, and big data tools to set up, optimize, and troubleshoot infrastructure-level data services.
- Use IaC principles and Terraform to design and deploy infrastructure.
- Build and manage CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub, Kargo, and ArgoCD, and monitor service health with Prometheus and Grafana.
- Support applications under development, customize existing applications, help with software updates and release roll-outs, and analyze, test, and integrate new applications.
Collaboration and delivery
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements and conduct integration analysis.
- Work alongside the Quality Assurance team to ensure applications meet technical specifications.
- Guide and mentor junior-level engineers.
- Document development activity including software designs, evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals, and formal reports.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Working expectations
- Exercise consistent independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Maintain regular, consistent, and punctual attendance.
- Be able to work nights and weekends, with variable schedules as necessary.
Required qualifications
- Python programming proficiency for software development, data processing, and machine learning applications.
- Algorithms and data structures with strong computational problem-solving skills.
- Collaboration and communication to work effectively across cross-functional teams, including software engineers, data scientists, and product managers.
