Job Description

Rocket Companies is hiring an early-career Machine Learning Engineer I for a hybrid role in Lewisville, TX. In this position, you’ll help build and support Python-based data pipelines and Azure ML systems that support real estate valuation, auction pricing, investor matching, and mortgage servicing analytics. The work spans taking models from prototype to production, deploying and monitoring ML systems, and supporting the team’s Azure-first data platform and MLOps tooling.

What you’ll do

  • Design, build, and maintain Python data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and integration across internal and external sources, including SharePoint via the Microsoft Graph API.
  • Build and support ETL/ELT processes that feed the team’s Azure environment, using tools such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Blob Storage, and Synapse/Fabric.
  • Support data quality, reliability, and governance across datasets used for modeling and reporting.
  • Create and optimize data models, SQL queries, and workflows following the team’s standard project structure (raw, processed, train/test data).
  • Assist with deploying, monitoring, and maintaining ML models in production, including gradient-boosted ensembles and classification and ranking models.
  • Develop Python-based data preparation and feature engineering pipelines.
  • Support model evaluation and testing, including ongoing performance monitoring and basic fairness or quality checks where relevant to regulated models.
  • Collaborate with Data Scientists to operationalize models and convert research code into production-ready services.
  • Help automate training, scoring, and deployment workflows, including containerized deployment with Docker/AKS.
  • Work with Data Science, Data Engineering, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment using Git based version control.
  • Document technical solutions, including data dictionaries and operational procedures.
  • Continuously learn and adopt new tools relevant to the team’s Azure-centric stack.

Azure platform focus

You’ll also support the team’s evolving Azure data platform, including a transition toward Microsoft Fabric and Purview-based governance.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 0–3 years of professional experience in Data Engineering, Machine Learning Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

Compensation

USD 112,000 - 239,000 per year.
