MS Fabric Data Engineer
Job Description
Preferred Credit, Inc. is seeking an MS Fabric Data Engineer in the St. Cloud area. This hybrid role offers a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and the opportunity to design modern data solutions while migrating SQL Server workloads to Microsoft Fabric using PySpark, dbt, and Power BI.
Responsibilities
- Design and build ingestion pipelines from on premise SQL Server and other sources into Fabric using Mirroring, Copy Activity/Data Factory pipelines, and Fabric Notebooks.
- Develop and maintain medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) transformations with PySpark notebooks and dbt.
- Implement schema evolution handling, watermark based incremental loads, and data quality checks across pipeline layers.
- Provide off hours support as needed to address data pipeline failures or critical production issues.
- Translate existing on premises stored procedures and ETL logic into Fabric native pipelines and dbt models as part of the migration from SQL Server to Fabric.
- Identify and remediate data pipeline failures, performance bottlenecks, and capacity constraints within Fabric limits.
Requirements
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent program or equivalent experience
- 3-4 years of overall data engineering experience, with 1-2 years (minimum) hands‑on experience in Microsoft Fabric
- Proficiency in PySpark and/or Python for data transformation and pipeline development
- Strong T-SQL skills and understanding of relational database and dimensional modeling concepts

Location eligibility and work setup
The role requires residence in Central Minnesota with reasonable commute to St. Cloud due to in office requirements.

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday 8:00am–5:00pm CST

Compensation
Starting Pay: $82,000 – $102,500 per year. The estimated range reflects the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on factors including skills, experience, location, and qualifications.
