Portfolio Reference Data Analyst Co-op
Job Description
The Portfolio Reference Data Analyst Co-op role supports Wellington Management’s Reference Data function within Global Operations. The position helps maintain reference data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness that supports investment, infrastructure, and client platforms, working closely with internal teams and external vendors.
Role Overview
As a co-op analyst in the Reference Data team, you will perform data operations that support portfolio eligibility and ongoing data quality improvements. The work includes collaboration with stakeholders across operations and investment-related functions, as well as coordination with data vendors to validate and maintain reference information.
Key Responsibilities
- Support investment teams with security setup and ongoing maintenance across equities, fixed income, and derivatives.
- Coordinate with custodian banks to obtain and update cash rates.
- Liaise with Trading, underwriters, market data vendors, and government sources to gather required documentation for bond issuances.
- Review security documentation, including prospectuses and offering documents, to assess portfolio eligibility.
- Use market data vendors and rating agencies, including Bloomberg, Markit, and major ratings providers, to analyze and validate data changes.
- Respond to routine and complex inquiries with timely, accurate, and thorough support.
- Assist in developing controls intended to strengthen daily operational processes.
- Contribute to special projects as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
- Strong academic credentials and interest in investment management, financial markets, and data-driven operations.
- Preference for coursework in finance, economics, business management, data science, mathematics, computer science, or a related field.
- Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and capability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with global teams, including asking thoughtful questions and taking a proactive approach to learning and problem solving.
- Prior internship, co-op, or project experience in financial services, data analysis, operations, or research is helpful but not required.

- Base salary range: USD 19 to 35 per hour
