Principal Associate, Data Scientist

Capital One is seeking a Principal Associate Data Scientist to join the Generative AI Systems team within Card Data Science. The role involves partnering with cross-functional teams to build ML models using Python, AWS, Spark and H2O on large-scale data to drive data informed decisions and improve customer outcomes.

USD 176,500 - 201,400 per year

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a cross functional team of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver a product that resonates with customers
• Utilize a broad tech stack including Python, Conda, AWS, H2O, Spark, and more to uncover insights from large-scale numeric and textual data
• Develop machine learning models across all stages of development, from design and training to evaluation, validation and deployment
• Translate complex technical work into clear business goals through effective communication

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related) with five years of data analytics experience
• Master's degree in a quantitative field (or MBA with a quantitative concentration) with three years of data analytics experience
• PhD in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related)

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Pursuing or holding one of the following with the expectation of degree completion by start date:
  • Bachelor's in a quantitative field plus five years of data analytics experience
  • Master's in a quantitative field or MBA with quantitative concentration plus three years of data analytics experience
  • PhD in a quantitative field

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a STEM field plus three years of data analytics experience, or PhD in STEM field
• At least 1 year of experience with AWS
• At least three years of experience with Python, Scala, or R
• At least three years of experience with machine learning
• At least three years of experience with SQL

Team Description

The Generative AI Systems (Genesis) team within Card Data Science develops state-of-the-art generative AI solutions for dialogue, text summarization, reading comprehension, speech recognition, image and document processing, as well as time-series sequencing modeling. The team partners with product, technology and design groups to deliver both internal applications that improve efficiency and customer-facing applications that enhance the customer experience.
