Research Data Analyst 1- Hybrid

Hybrid role at UC San Diego Health supporting research teams with reliable data management, quality control, and routine analytics. This career appointment is based in San Diego, with a schedule that includes onsite work at the campus and remote time, Monday through Friday during daytime, 8-hour shifts. You will work under close supervision while helping keep research data accurate, organized, and ready for standard reporting.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine data management and data quality support for research projects.
• Maintain databases and perform data entry and verification activities.
• Clean datasets according to established procedures, supporting data accuracy and completeness.
• Assist with data organization and documentation for research studies.
• Compile data and prepare standard reports, tables, charts, and graphs for research.
• Run predefined programs using established statistical software such as SAS, R, Stata, or JMP.
• Produce routine data summaries and assist with quality control reviews of datasets.
• Support creation of basic calculated variables.
• Conduct literature searches, summarize findings for research staff, and assist with preparing research materials and study documentation.
• Support presentation of research results.
• Provide routine assistance to faculty, staff, students, and trainees in locating and accessing research data and resources.
• Work on small projects or project segments with limited scope and complexity.

Requirements

• Four (4) years of related experience, education, and/or training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in a related area.
• Acquiring knowledge of research function.
• Acquiring ability to perform research analysis duties.
• Acquiring statistical analysis, systems programming, and database design skills to perform research analysis duties.
• Ability to manage time and complete assigned parts of projects by deadline.
• Basic consultation and communication skills, including ability to communicate results to scientists and others.
• Knowledge of data analysis pipelines that clean, analyze, and output data to reduce error and support reproducible science.
• Experience with analysis software including SAS, R, Stata, and/or JMP.
• Experience with basic research analysis protocol and results/conclusion writeups.

• Pay transparency: Hiring Pay Scale $33.09 - $45.47 / Hour
