Job Description

YouTube seeks a Research Data Scientist focused on Brand Bidding Optimization to create models and optimization strategies that elevate bidding relevance, targeting precision, and overall impact for brand advertisers.

Position details

Location: Mountain View, CA (onsite)

Salary: USD 147,000 - 211,000 per year

Experience required: Minimum 3 years

Education: Master's degree

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across projects to identify and clarify business or product questions, then translate these into tractable analyses, evaluation metrics, or mathematical models.
  • Design and evaluate models using custom data infrastructure or existing data models, applying specialized knowledge to express and solve defined problems with limited precedent.
  • Collect information on goals, priorities, and organizational context, as well as current and upcoming data infrastructure to inform analysis.
  • Own the process of gathering, extracting, and compiling data from multiple sources with relevant tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python). Independently format, restructure, and validate data to ensure quality and readiness for analysis.
  • Develop optimization solutions that address targeting relevance, creative recommendations, bidding optimization, and impact measurement.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • At least 3 years of work experience solving product or business problems using analytics, coding (Python, R, SQL), query of databases, or a PhD eligible candidate.
  • Experience in operations research, game theory, or machine learning.
  • Experience in digital advertising or brand advertising.
