Job Description

As a Senior Data Scientist on TikTok Shop’s US Seller Business within Global E-commerce Data Strategy, you will help drive seller growth by building metric frameworks, analytics, and models. This role combines end-to-end project ownership with close collaboration across Product, Operations, and Engineering to deliver insights that improve seller lifecycle decisions.

Role Focus

You will lead the data strategy for the US Seller Business, identifying key business problems and growth opportunities. The work centers on accelerating seller acquisition, activation, and retention on TikTok Shop through actionable insights and measurable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive US Seller Growth: Own the US Seller Business data strategy, translating business questions into insights that support seller acquisition, activation, and retention.
  • Advanced analytics and modeling: Design and implement data models, statistical frameworks, and experimentation (including A/B testing) to analyze seller behavior and improve e-commerce funnel performance.
  • End-to-end project ownership: Lead medium-to-large complexity projects or business directions, turning business pain points into data solutions and plans that impact business metrics.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work with Product Managers, Operations, and Engineering to align on data, technical, and business decisions, while managing dependencies and mitigating risks.
  • Data infrastructure and tooling: Build and continuously improve data infrastructure, core metrics, and analytical toolkits, focusing on reuse opportunities that improve team efficiency.
  • Mentorship and leadership: Act as a technical expert, mentor junior data scientists, and review analytical and technical designs to support objective, data-driven decision-making.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 5+ years of industry experience in data science, analytics, or a related field, with a demonstrated track record of data-driven business impact.
  • Strong understanding of the e-commerce ecosystem, with emphasis on US seller growth, merchant operations, or marketplace dynamics.
  • Advanced analytical and modeling skills, including proficiency with SQL and Python/R, plus statistical analysis and machine learning techniques.
  • Ability to independently lead complex projects, decompose ambiguous problems into actionable steps, and deliver end-to-end outcomes.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with technical and non-technical stakeholders, aligning teams, and presenting insights clearly.
  • Hands-on experience using and building AI-driven tools (including LLMs, Agents, and AI workflows) to improve analytical efficiency and solve business problems.
  • Ability to evaluate and refine AI outputs.
  • Familiarity with e-commerce open platforms, developer ecosystems, or API integrations for merchants.
  • Proven experience mentoring others and raising technical and analytical standards within a data organization.
  • High self-direction, objectivity, resilience, and ownership with a results-oriented mindset.

Compensation

Base salary range: USD 207,480 - 368,220 per year for the selected city.

Compensation may vary based on qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location.
