Senior AI Engineer

The Senior AI Engineer role (Hybrid) in Eagan, Minnesota supports Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota in advancing its AI strategy. The position centers on delivering production-ready AI and machine learning solutions, building repeatable engineering frameworks, and collaborating across data science and business teams to automate workflows and reduce operational overhead.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy production-ready artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions from concept through implementation.
• Create reusable frameworks and engineering patterns that can be applied consistently across products and business problems.
• Guide cloud migration and integration of AI solutions while supporting reliable product lifecycle management practices.
• Partner with product, data science, engineering, and business teams to translate strategic needs into scalable technical solutions.
• Deploy AI and ML models in production, working with data scientists and other stakeholders.
• Collaborate with a team of data scientists and AI engineers to support AI development, integration, and deployment in production.
• Work with cross-functional teams to understand analytical and ML needs and provide technical solutions.
• Mentor junior data scientists, including training and supporting model execution in cloud environments such as AWS and Azure, as well as automation of data science processes.
• Develop and maintain unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests for APIs and ML models.
• Evaluate and implement emerging tools and cloud services for analytics data engineering to improve team productivity.
• Build high quality data pipelines used by data scientists and business analysts to generate insights.

Requirements

• 5+ years of related data analytics & business intelligence professional experience.
• Bachelor’s degree; in lieu of a degree, an additional two years of relevant experience beyond the qualifications listed above may be accepted.

• Clear communication of complex topics, active listening to anticipate stakeholder needs, and alignment to drive informed decisions.
• Ability to analyze complex information, evaluate options, and work cross-functionally to drive resolution and prevent recurrence.
• Strong organization and time management skills, including balancing competing priorities and meeting deadlines.
• Programming proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience with predictive modeling and statistical analysis in ML workflows.
• Experience with AWS tools and cloud platforms.
• Experience with version control, including Git Version Control system.
• Experience with visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, and Looker.
• Experience with healthcare data and/or healthcare domain knowledge.
