Job Description

The Senior Analytics Engineer role at Good Inside focuses on building and operating the data foundation that powers product analytics and decision-making, covering dbt modeling, Amplitude tracking, and subscription data modeling. This hybrid position is based in Manhattan with three days onsite.

Location and Compensation

  • Location: New York, NY (hybrid)
  • Onsite schedule: Three days onsite
  • Salary: USD 185,000 - 195,000 per year

Role Overview

In this full stack role weighted toward analytics engineering, you will own the models, tracking definitions, and pipelines that explain how parents discover, adopt, and return to Good Inside. You will answer Product’s highest-impact questions through funnel and cohort analysis, experiment readouts, and churn or propensity modeling when needed.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and maintain clean, modular dbt models for product events, engagement, and the member journey, spanning onboarding and activation through retention.
  • Create well-documented transformations so Product can trust the numbers.
  • Maintain the Amplitude event taxonomy and tracking plans.
  • Collaborate with PMs and engineers so new features ship with the correct events, with consistent definitions across app and web.
  • Model the subscription lifecycle, including trials, conversions, upgrades, churn, and reactivations, and connect it to product behavior in alignment with Engineering and Finance.
  • Set up testing, monitoring, and alerting.
  • Identify inconsistencies early, improve freshness, and reduce the likelihood of teams waiting on or questioning data.
  • Answer Product questions directly using analysis such as funnel and cohort work, experiment readouts, and churn or propensity models when appropriate.
  • Build the semantic layer and dashboards in Omni and Amplitude so routine questions can be answered without waiting on Data.
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and the Data Analytics team, contribute to architecture decisions with downstream data impact in mind, and mentor others on the team.
  • Balance competing priorities while keeping quality standards high.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or product analytics roles, including at least 2 years supporting a product team.
  • Deep hands-on dbt experience in production.
  • Expert SQL and strong Python for modeling, pipelines, and analysis.
  • Experience with a modern data warehouse such as Snowflake, and orchestration and ingestion tools such as Airflow or Fivetran (or similar).
  • Deep experience with event-driven product data and Amplitude (or Mixpanel or Heap), including ownership of event taxonomy and tracking plans.
  • Strong understanding of subscription businesses, including trial conversion, retention cohorts, LTV, churn, and Stripe or app store billing data.
  • A track record of analysis that influenced what got built, with grounding in experimentation and statistics.
  • Experience designing clean, modular, well-tested analytics data models.
  • Proficiency with Git and collaborative engineering workflows.
  • Ability to make sound architectural decisions with limited oversight, balancing speed with long-term maintainability.
  • Experience embracing AI-assisted development tools to increase velocity while maintaining accuracy.
  • Clear communication skills, including leading with a recommendation in fast-moving environments.

Bonus Points

  • Direct-to-consumer subscription experience, especially app store and web purchase flows and gaps between them.
  • Data science experience in churn or propensity modeling, survival analysis, or causal inference.
  • Pricing, packaging, or paywall experimentation.
  • Mobile app analytics and attribution.
  • Familiarity with Segment, Braze, and BI semantic layers (with Omni as a plus).
  • Experience mentoring analysts or helping stakeholders self-serve.

Technologies

  • dbt, Amplitude, SQL, Python, Snowflake
  • Airflow, Fivetran, Mixpanel, Heap
  • Omni, Git, Stripe

Benefits

  • Company Equity
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • 401k + Company match
  • Time off to recharge
  • Hybrid work environment
  • High-ownership, high-performance, high-collaboration culture

What This Role Is Designed To Enable

This position is built for a software-engineering mindset applied to analytics: embed with product teams at a subscription business, use AI-assisted workflows to move faster, and take pride in building clean systems that help shape what gets built. The hybrid role is based in Manhattan with three days onsite.
