Senior Analytics Engineer - Experience with Tableau and SnowFlake
Job Description
KBA Consulting, LLC is building a next-generation data and analytics platform, with a focus on the user experience and interaction layer of the data product. This role helps co-own how raw data becomes trusted, harmonized, business-ready analytics products, delivered today through Tableau. You will work alongside the Head of Data & Analytics and Senior Data Engineer / Data Architect to shape durable capabilities that internal business users and external customers can rely on.
What you’ll do
- Own the user interaction and experience layer of the data product, currently centered on Tableau, for both internal business users and external customers.
- Develop a deep understanding of how these user communities operate, then design scalable experiences that meet shared needs while addressing meaningful differences.
- Act as a product and analytics thought partner to business stakeholders by listening closely, challenging assumptions, and translating business problems into solutions that improve how users work and make decisions.
- Balance stakeholder expectations, technical realities, and long-term product direction, instead of only fulfilling individual requirements.
- Co-own the harmonization and reporting/analytics layers, transforming raw and staged data into reusable, trusted analytics products.
- Design curated models, dimensions, facts, metrics, semantic layers, and transformation logic that connect the data foundation to the user experience.
- Build analytical solutions beyond traditional BI by applying methods to identify patterns, explain performance, anticipate outcomes, and surface opportunities for action across operational, revenue, and strategic use cases.
- Own where analytical logic belongs across the product by translating business concepts into governed data models, metrics, and experiences, moving reusable logic upstream into the warehouse or semantic layer when appropriate.
- Co-author the product with the broader data team, bringing ideas and product judgment while partnering closely with analytics and engineering leaders.
- Build trust through analytical governance including testing, validation, documentation, lineage, metric definitions, and data quality practices.
- Establish reusable standards and patterns that help analytical products remain understandable, supportable, and scalable.
- Shape the next generation of analytical experiences, including AI-enabled ways for users to discover, understand, and act on governed enterprise data.
- Evaluate and evolve tools, interaction patterns, and analytical capabilities as product and user needs mature.
What you bring
- Strong experience in analytics engineering, data modeling, or analytical product development, with the depth to work across transformation, semantic modeling, and user-facing analytics experience.
- Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with modern cloud data warehouses, ideally Snowflake or similar, plus transformation technologies such as dbt, Matillion, DPC, SQL-based ELT, or comparable tools.
- Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, semantic layers, metric governance, and BI consumption patterns, including moving reusable business logic out of dashboards and one-off solutions into governed warehouse and semantic-layer models.
- Proven ability to move from business problems to durable analytical solutions, including understanding user goals, refining requirements when needed, and aligning stakeholders around scalable product direction.
- Strong product and user instincts, including experience designing for different audiences and knowing when to use common capabilities versus differentiated experiences.
- Experience serving both internal and external users or customers is a plus.
- Exposure to analytical methods beyond traditional BI (for example, forecasting, segmentation, statistical analysis, anomaly detection, or optimization), with interest in expanding practical analytics and AI in business-facing data products.
- Ability to collaborate as a technical partner to engineers, analytics leaders, and business stakeholders, navigating tradeoffs and building alignment constructively.
- Discipline around data quality, testing, documentation, definitions, lineage, transformation logic, and assumptions, with a focus on trusted reusable capabilities rather than one-off work.
