Job Description

Based onsite in Bentonville, Arkansas, Walmart invites a Senior Data Analyst to lead the fraud-detection effort within its Last Mile Delivery program. You will act as the lead architect for building, scaling, and optimizing fraud-detection capabilities across Walmart’s expansive data ecosystems, developing risk-signal logic and end-to-end SQL and Python pipelines, and presenting fraud strategies to senior leadership to align the roadmap with global business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Scale pattern recognition by analyzing user behavior and platform interactions at scale to identify unusual activity, suspicious accounts, and emerging fraud vectors.
  • Core analytic execution using segmentation, trend analysis, anomaly detection, and correlation testing to reveal sophisticated fraud patterns across large, complex datasets.
  • Risk signal synthesis through the combination of data points such as GPS movement, device details, and behavioral metadata to produce high-fidelity risk assessments.
  • Contextual intelligence that incorporates real-world factors, including cultural, social, and environmental context, to capture nuances automated systems might miss.
  • Signal engineering to design and refine fraud indicators, including measurable behaviors, thresholds, and composite signals for continuous monitoring via models and dashboards.
  • Hypothesis validation that identifies fraud motivations and opportunities, transforming ideas into testable data signals and validation frameworks.
  • Logic optimization by stress-testing queries against legitimate user scenarios to refine logic, thresholds, and exclusion rules, reducing false positives.
  • Strategic enhancements through structured feedback and technical business requirements to drive new fraud signals and detection-tool improvements.
  • Audit-ready documentation, maintaining structured investigation records that document every step from detection to deactivation.
  • External intelligence integration using OSINT to supplement internal data, confirm identities, and uncover external fraud clues or networks.
  • Defensible reporting with clear technical documentation designed to withstand audits or legal scrutiny.
  • Adversarial prototyping to anticipate exploits by thinking like a bad actor and identifying vulnerabilities to stay ahead of evolving fraud tactics.
  • Cross-functional insight delivery to Product, Legal, Compliance, Engineering, and Care Operations, informing tooling improvements and policy updates.
  • Strategic decision support through deep operational context that guides broader fraud-prevention strategies and product design decisions.
  • Programmatic gap analysis that summarizes operational findings, QA trends, and SOP gaps to drive ongoing program updates.
  • Compliance and audit governance, overseeing technical and operational documentation to ensure audit readiness and global compliance adherence.
