Senior Data Engineer

MMD Services, Inc is hiring a Senior Data Engineer for a hybrid role based in Rosemont, IL. In this position, you will own enterprise-scale data pipelines and cloud data warehouse solutions on AWS, spanning design, implementation, and ongoing production support.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of enterprise-scale data pipelines and cloud data warehouse solutions from design through deployment, with a direct impact on how the business operates
• Build AWS-based pipelines using modern orchestration tooling to support real analytics workloads across the company
• Architect and optimize an AWS Redshift data warehouse for business intelligence and reporting at scale
• Drive ETL and data lake architecture decisions, including standards for cataloging and lake formation
• Design and implement APIs and API gateway integrations to connect systems and improve data access across the organization
• Deliver medallion architecture and modern data standards in practice
• Collaborate closely with IT and cross-functional teams in a lean environment where ideas move quickly
• Participate across the build lifecycle, including requirements, design, coding, testing, and deployment
• Troubleshoot and support production data platforms used daily by the business
• Identify broken or outdated components and implement improvements
• Mentor less experienced engineers and help set team priorities through demonstrated knowledge
• Contribute to the evolution of the data engineering practice as the company scales rapidly

Required Qualifications

• Recent, hands-on experience building and supporting AWS solutions, including IAM, S3, API Gateway, Glue (or similar), Lake Formation, Redshift, and relational or NoSQL databases such as RDS and DynamoDB
• Strong working knowledge of a modern workflow orchestration tool for scheduling and managing data pipelines (Airflow, Step Functions, or similar)
• Proficiency in Python and PySpark for scalable data engineering development
• Experience developing and integrating APIs, including API gateway configuration
• Solid understanding of relational database concepts and data modeling best practices
• Familiarity with medallion-style or layered data architecture standards
• Demonstrated, stable and progressive career history with depth in data engineering roles
• Strong analytical skills and excellent written and verbal communication
• Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively across teams

Compensation

$130,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
