Senior Data Engineer / Data Architect
Job Description
Information Technology Senior Management Forum is seeking a Senior Data Engineer / Data Architect to lead the design and optimization of enterprise-scale data platforms, build scalable pipelines, and enable data-driven decision making across the organization. This onsite role in Rutherford, New Jersey combines hands-on engineering with strategic data leadership and offers a clear path for mentoring teams and shaping data strategy.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable data architectures, including data lakes and data warehouses, leveraging Medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold).
- Develop and manage robust ETL/ELT pipelines using SSIS, Apache Airflow, and Dataform.
- Build and optimize high-performance data models and database objects such as stored procedures, views, and tables.
- Process and manage large-scale datasets (1TB+ and billions of rows) with emphasis on reliability and accuracy.
- Develop and maintain BI dashboards and reports using Tableau, Power BI, Looker, and other reporting tools.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into actionable insights and analytics solutions.
- Integrate data from multiple systems including Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, APIs, Big Data, and Hadoop ecosystems.
- Optimize SQL queries and data pipelines for performance and scalability.
- Ensure data quality, governance, and system uptime.
- Lead cross-functional teams and drive the data strategy, roadmap, and best practices.
- Mentor team members and support knowledge sharing across teams.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or BI development.
- Proficiency in SQL and T-SQL; Python experience preferred.
- Experience with ETL tools such as SSIS, Apache Airflow, Dataform, and Azure Data Factory.
- Hands-on experience with Tableau or Power BI.
- Background in data warehousing and data modeling.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
- Expertise in Data Engineering and Pipeline Development.
- Experience in Data Visualization and storytelling.
- Knowledge of Cloud Data Platforms (Azure, GCP).
- SQL performance tuning and data modeling/warehousing.
- Stakeholder management and leadership experience.
