Senior Data Engineer - Robotics
Job Description
Motion Recruitment is hiring a Senior Data Engineer - Robotics in Wilmington, MA (onsite). In this hands-on role, you will build and scale the data platforms that power robotic operations, fleet management, analytics, machine learning initiatives, and customer reporting. You will focus on designing scalable telemetry and streaming pipelines while maintaining data quality, reliability, accessibility, and performance across real-time and batch workflows.
What you’ll build
- Design and develop scalable telemetry/streaming pipelines that ingest robotic fleet data
- Create data solutions for analytics, reporting, and machine learning use cases
- Build and maintain data models optimized for operational and business intelligence needs
- Develop real-time and batch processing workflows for robotic system data
- Implement data governance, validation, and monitoring processes
- Optimize storage, processing, and retrieval of large-scale operational datasets
- Contribute to architectural decisions across cloud-native data platforms and services
How you’ll work with others
- Partner with robotics and software engineering teams to improve data collection and data accessibility
- Monitor pipeline performance and troubleshoot data quality issues
- Support customer-facing analytics and operational reporting solutions
What you bring
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
- Experience building and maintaining large-scale data pipelines
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS preferred)
- Knowledge of ETL and ELT frameworks
- Experience with data warehousing technologies
- Experience processing large volumes of event-driven or streaming data
- Knowledge of distributed data systems and scalable architectures
- Experience with Spark, Kafka, Airflow, or similar technologies
- Strong understanding of data modeling and database design
- Software engineering best practices, including testing and version control
Skills and experience that help
- 5+ years of Data Engineering experience
- Experience working with IoT, robotics, sensor, or telemetry datasets
- Experience supporting machine learning or analytics teams
- Familiarity with real-time data processing architectures
- Knowledge of warehouse automation, logistics, or supply chain technologies
- Experience with Databricks or modern cloud analytics platforms
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Engineering, or related field
- Experience working in a fast-paced startup or high-growth environment
