Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Motion Recruitment is hiring a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to lead hands-on technical work in Providence, RI on a hybrid schedule. In this role, you will help transform emerging AI concepts into durable, large-scale capabilities used in real product experiences, with a focus on generative AI, semantic search, retrieval frameworks, and multi-step agent workflows.

What you will deliver

• 100% hands-on technical contribution, from designing solutions to building and releasing AI features.
• Develop and ship AI capabilities that improve how professionals discover, evaluate, and use complex information.
• Create scalable services and shared infrastructure that support distributed machine learning applications.
• Build retrieval pipelines, agent orchestration, and supporting components for generative AI products.
• Collaborate with application, cloud, data, and security teams to meet performance, reliability, and governance requirements.

Core qualifications

• Extensive experience designing and delivering applied machine learning solutions.
• Proven ability to build systems powered by large language models and AI agents.
• Strong understanding of retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, and vector-based search.
• Experience supporting model delivery using MLOps tooling and production practices.
• Advanced Python programming ability.
• Experience deploying cloud-native services with AWS and Kubernetes.
• Prior work in legal technology, knowledge management, publishing, or another information-rich industry.
• 12+ years of software development experience, or 8+ years plus a doctorate.
• A degree in computer science, machine learning, engineering, or a comparable technical field.
