Job Description
This role centers on Generative AI UX initiatives for AWS, delivering AI powered design and prototyping capabilities onsite in East Palo Alto, CA. It targets leadership in end-to-end GenAI platform development and the advancement of Venue and Arena projects.
Summary
The Senior Machine Learning Engineer role focuses on Generative AI UX for AWS, driving the creation of design-oriented AI tools and steering end-to-end GenAI platform development across the Venue and Arena initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Backend integration with AI oriented systems to manage asynchronous data flows from LLMs and other AI services.
- Enhance performance to maximize the speed and responsiveness of AI driven interfaces, especially with large datasets or real time streaming outputs.
- Design and own end-to-end systems spanning backend services, APIs, data storage, and frontend integration.
- Create and evolve GenAI powered services that enable design generation, validation, and automation workflows.
- Contribute to long term technical vision and architecture decisions.
- Balance short term delivery with scalable and maintainable system design.
- Collaborate with internal teams to understand requirements and translate them into robust solutions.
- Participate in hiring, mentor junior engineers, and elevate the engineering bar.
Requirements
- Five or more years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- Five or more years of programming experience in at least one software language.
- Five or more years leading design or architecture of new or existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
- Experience with emerging generative and agentic technologies.
- Background in machine learning and data science.
Education
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

Description
The team shapes new Generative AI UX products for AWS customers, focusing on design driven development and broadening innovation access for builders. We deliver a shared platform across multiple products and develop AI powered tools that leverage Design Systems to construct interfaces, accelerating design, development, and validation workflows. The two products under development are Venue, an AI powered internal prototyping tool that enables AWS builders to create features using the AWS Cloudscape Design system, and Arena, an external version designed to scale the offering to all of Amazon and external customers with an emphasis on rapid 0 to 1 prototyping.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Machine Learning Engineer to lead the creation of state of the art AI UX solutions. AI UX merges Artificial Intelligence with User Experience to raise the quality of interactions while maintaining reliable performance with AI agents. This involves designing for trust, transparency, and user control, enabling edits or undo actions, and enhancing productivity through automation of repetitive tasks for more engaging and efficient user experiences.
The successful candidate will bring expertise in generative and agentic AI and data analysis to develop transformative AI applications. You will collaborate closely with product, design, and backend teams to build and improve our generative AI platform, with opportunities to influence product direction and foster a culture of innovation and excellence.
