Sr AI Engineer - Data

MeridianLink builds production data systems and AI-powered engineering workflows used in financial products for credit unions. In this US Remote role, you will work on data-heavy features end to end, with AI agents integrated into day-to-day engineering: they help implement meaningful functionality while you guide direction, review outputs, and take ownership of what ships.

What you’ll do

• Own data-heavy features from design through production, planning pragmatic approaches for increasing traffic and growing data volume.
• Continuously improve data models and production data systems, including pipelines, migrations, and multi-tenant components.
• Build in a TypeScript monorepo using Hono and Drizzle/Postgres, with AWS infrastructure managed through SST/Pulumi across Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, and S3. Experience with Terraform or AWS CDK transfers well.
• Monitor systems in production, investigate issues, and fix root causes.
• Support the team with clear, practical technical decisions as part of owning work end to end.
• When projects cross into product, you may also touch React 19 and React Router 7.

What you bring

• 5+ years building, scaling, and running production software.
• Strong backend engineering skills in a typed language, including experience integrating third-party and public APIs such as OpenAI or Anthropic Claude.
• Hands-on experience with relational data modeling, migrations, and production data systems.
• Sound judgment working with sensitive data and high-impact changes.
• Current, hands-on experience using AI coding tools and reviewing their output.
• Clear written communication, product sense, and comfort owning responsibilities end to end.
• Experience with TypeScript, Postgres, serverless AWS, or event-driven systems is useful (exact framework overlap is not required).

Compensation & benefits

Compensation: USD 126,000 to 214,900 per year.
