Job Description

Travelers is expanding its data capabilities to support AI, machine learning, and business intelligence across the enterprise. In this onsite role in Hartford, Connecticut, you will design, build, and deploy data solutions that help teams capture, explore, transform, and use data, while also operationalizing pipelines and strengthening data management fundamentals.

What you will do

  • Build and operationalize data solutions, address issues, apply transformations, and recommend data cleansing and data quality improvements.
  • Participate in the design of data solutions.
  • Analyze data sources to assess value and recommend what to include in analytical processes.
  • Apply core data management competencies, including data governance, data security, and data quality.
  • Collaborate with team and business users to support delivery and educate end users on data products and the analytic environment.
  • Perform data and system analysis, assessment, and resolution for moderate-complexity defects and incidents.
  • Test data movement, transformation code, and data components.
  • Complete other assigned duties.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related field (or equivalent).
  • Five years of related experience.
  • Experience leveraging OpenAI and AWS Bedrock to drive innovative projects.
  • Strong technical proficiency with Python, SQL, AWS, and Databricks to develop robust AI applications.
  • Terraform expertise to streamline infrastructure management and deployment.
  • Proficiency using cloud platforms, programming languages, and software engineering practices, including tools and techniques for data and system work.
  • Ability to deliver work at a steady, predictable pace by decomposing assignments into small batch releases and participating in tradeoff and negotiation discussions.
  • Demonstrated domain expertise with the ability to understand technical concepts and work effectively within immediate systems.
  • Proven problem-solving skills, including debugging in unfamiliar code or systems and solving repetitive issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with team members and business partners.
  • Intermediate leadership capability, including self-motivation and identifying personal growth opportunities.
  • Developing knowledge of tools, techniques, and manipulation across cloud platforms, programming languages, and software engineering practices.
  • Additional education: a computer science-related STEM degree or its equivalent in education and/or work experience.
  • 1 additional year of software/data engineering experience.

Location and compensation

  • Location: Hartford, CT (onsite)
  • Salary range: USD 94,400 to 155,800 per year

Travelers notes that the annual base salary range is a nationwide market range and the final salary is determined by factors such as role scope, complexity, and location, as well as candidate skills, education, training, credentials, experience, and other employment conditions. Employees may also be eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards as part of the company’s comprehensive compensation and benefits program.
