Sr Data Engineer 1 – Enterprise IT Data Analytics

Responsibilities

• Plan, document, and assist with work activities for projects, sub-projects, or processes; for small projects, analyze requirements, design, build, and test IT software solutions per IT project management standards; for operations and maintenance, enhance or support existing IT products to the defined service levels
• Help create documentation for products and services and apply best practices to improve offerings for business unit partners, ensuring adherence to defined standards
• Maintain strong engagement with business and IT partners and other stakeholders
• Foster a positive team atmosphere by mentoring and training less experienced staff
• Proactively expand technical knowledge and business understanding within the discipline
• Resolve complex problems, including collaboration with vendors and other IT professionals
• Assist in developing workplans for project phases with limited supervision, identifying and addressing unexpected issues with minimal guidance
• Contribute to efforts in support of Exelon Utility Analytics
• Design, implement, and enforce security policies and controls to protect systems and data from unauthorized access; analyze data security systems and report findings
• Make informed decisions on monitoring settings, including sample sizes and criticality levels, and identify opportunities for self-healing
• Drive continuous improvement by applying lessons learned and integrating innovative approaches for future tasks
• Operate under limited supervision

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field and 4-7 years of relevant experience in data warehouse design, business intelligence reporting, and ETL/ELT processing, or a 6-9 year equivalent mix of education and work experience
• Deep knowledge of Big Data technologies and their impact on the company’s systems infrastructure
• Experience implementing enterprise-wide data standards, including business definitions and naming conventions
• Experience interviewing users as part of a systems development team to inform analysis or technical work
• Ability to use PowerShell, Ansible, or comparable scripting tools to automate tasks, generate reports, and troubleshoot existing scripts
• Strong understanding of how the System Development Life Cycle fits into the overall development lifecycle
• Proficiency in communicating complex concepts to users, management, and other stakeholders with varying levels of subject matter knowledge
• Demonstrated ability to utilize a range of tools effectively in complex applications
• Solid grasp of the capabilities of standard monitoring tools
