Sr. Data Engineer, Ground Network Engineering (Business Analytics)
Job Description
Sr. Data Engineer for Ground Network Engineering (Business Analytics) based in Redmond, WA (onsite) at SpaceX, defining infrastructure KPIs, analyzing data to extract insights, and forecasting costs to optimize spending for the Starlink Ground Network.
Responsibilities
- Define and develop KPIs and metrics that quantify the cost of every asset within the Starlink Ground Network globally, including gateway sites, points of presence, data centers, construction, fiber, power, land, hardware, and more.
- Perform deep-dive analyses of ground infrastructure data to identify trends and opportunities for cost improvements.
- Regularly prepare reports and presentations that summarize findings, provide actionable insights, and track the effectiveness of implemented strategies.
- Build and maintain forecasting engines to predict costs for the Starlink Ground Network.
- Support cost analysis for the launch of future markets.
- Refactor and scale data ingestion and delivery of cost systems to support geographic expansion.
- Maintain and enhance the integrity and reliability of internal and external data sources; collaborate with engineering teams and external processors to capture additional data and ensure data accuracy and consistency.
- Collaborate closely with software engineering and other cross functional teams.
- Architect backend services, APIs, and workflows to integrate planning, forecasting, deployments, and cost management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field
- 5+ years of professional experience in reporting and analytics in network infrastructure
- 3+ years of experience with SQL

Compensation and Benefits
- Pay range: $160,000.00 - $225,000.00 per year for Network Engineer/Senior level
- The final level and base salary are determined on a case-by-case basis based on knowledge, education, and experience
- Base salary is one part of a broader total rewards package, which may include long-term incentives such as company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, discretionary bonuses, and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan
