Job Description

Deloitte is looking for a Sr. Data Scientist in San Jose, CA for a hybrid role under its Project Delivery Talent Model. The position is designed for business-facing analytics work, including client engagement responsibilities, while reducing the need for extensive travel. You will translate data into clear narratives, apply analytics and statistical rigor, and communicate recommendations to business partners.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct analytics using data science techniques, partnering with business stakeholders to tell stories from data.
  • Maintain regular communication with Engagement Managers (Directors), project team members, and representatives across functional and technical groups, escalating items that require additional attention from engagement management.
  • Independently and collaboratively lead client engagement workstreams focused on improvement, optimization, and transformation of processes.
  • Implement leading-practice workflows, address quality deficits, and drive operational outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in Data Science, with a strong emphasis on business-facing product analytics (financial products experience is a plus).
  • 7+ years of experience with SQL, Python, and data visualization tools such as Tableau for full-stack analysis.
  • Experience designing and interpreting A/B tests, including control group setup and efficacy measurement.
  • Working knowledge of when and how to apply AI/LLM capabilities to business problems, with the ability to communicate recommendations to business partners (not a deep ML/AI engineering role).
  • Strong critical thinking to break down ambiguous problem statements into actionable steps.
  • Demonstrated use of statistical rigor and machine learning techniques to derive insights from large, complex datasets.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-starter capable of driving projects with limited supervision.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, or Applied Social Sciences.
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
  • Ability to travel 10% on average based on work, clients, and industry/sector.
  • Hybrid schedule: On-site Tur/Wed/Thu.

Compensation

The estimated wage range for this role is $124,700 to $207,800 per year.
