Staff Machine Learning Engineer, Compute

The Staff Machine Learning Engineer, Compute role focuses on scaling GM's ML Compute Platform backend, building core backend components, integrating with GPU hardware and orchestration systems, and driving improvements to architecture and user experience.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement core backend components of the platform
• Demonstrated proficiency with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure
• Operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and collaborate with other teams to integrate their innovations
• Evaluate and enhance the efficiency, scalability, and stability of system resources
• Lead and shape large-scale initiatives across GM's ML ecosystem

Requirements

• 7+ years of industry experience
• Proficiency in Go, C++, Python, or other relevant languages
• Extensive experience with Kubernetes at scale
• Experience building large-scale distributed systems
• Experience leading and driving large-scale initiatives
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, or Amazon Web Services

Compensation

The expected base CA compensation for this role is: $198,900 - $304,800. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

Bonus Potential

An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.

Company Vehicle

Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.
