Staff Product Data Scientist
Job Description
Google’s Collab Data Science team is seeking a Staff Product Data Scientist to support Workspace product development across Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Pics, and Vids. In this role, you will help shape how the organization measures product outcomes, evaluates Generative AI and agentic tooling, and scales analytics through robust metric frameworks and data modeling.
This is an onsite position in New York, NY. The salary range is USD 192,000 - 278,000 per year.
What you’ll do
- Lead the research and development of metric frameworks and methodologies to assess the effectiveness, adoption, and efficiency of Generative AI and agentic tooling within Workspace products.
- Collaborate with product engineering and central data infrastructure teams to resolve ambiguity, define responsibilities, and manage multi-team telemetry and infrastructure initiatives from inception through execution.
- Design and build scalable data models and analytical architecture that connects data across distinct product domains to maintain cohesion.
- Scope and deliver initiatives for self-serve analytics by creating unified semantic layers, metric stores, executive dashboards, and AI-powered self-serve tooling.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
- 10 years of experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, including statistical analysis and coding (such as Python, R, SQL), or 8 years with a Master’s degree.
- 8 years of experience with core product analytics concepts, including user engagement metrics, funnel analysis, and A/B testing infrastructure.
- 8 years of experience in data modeling, designing semantic layers, and metric stores that support organizational consumption.
- Experience operating distributed data processing engines.
