The Supervisory Data Scientist (AI/ML) provides leadership for evaluating, validating, and monitoring enterprise AI and ML capabilities for the Defense Logistics Agency, directing adversarial testing and MLOps integration on site in Battle Creek, Michigan.

Role Overview

Responsible for guiding rigorous evaluation and validation of enterprise AI/ML capabilities, establishing standardized testing and verification protocols, and overseeing ongoing model monitoring and security testing activities to ensure robust deployment lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as the division's independent scientific evaluation authority for all enterprise AI/ML capabilities by implementing standardized test, evaluation, verification, and validation protocols.
  • Leads the creation of Independent Validation and Verification reports that capture key statistics such as ROC-AUC, F1 scores, and precision/recall distributions.
  • Manages continuous monitoring protocols for models in production, defines drift thresholds, and establishes automated alerts to prevent degradation or bias over time.
  • Collaborates with the J6DAA branch to ensure automated validation scripts are integrated into the enterprise MLOps CI/CD pipelines.
  • Directs adversarial testing frameworks, including data poisoning, model inversion, and evasion attacks, to proactively identify and mitigate vulnerabilities in AI systems.

  • Certifies a model's scientific validity and readiness for deployment, delivering detailed test reports and statistical findings
  • Mentors technical staff through complex statistical and ethical AI challenges
