Job Description
Technical Consultant – Enterprise Data Engineer focusing on geospatial data platforms at Esri, driving design and implementation of scalable solutions to support Defense and Intelligence operations.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and secure scalable database platforms to support mission-critical applications.
- Partner with cross-functional teams across requirements, analysis, design, build/configuration, and deployment phases.
- Configure and maintain database environments, including backup, restore, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Monitor and optimize database performance using standard tools and methodologies, including query optimization and indexing.
- Enforce data security measures, access controls, and compliance across environments.
- Automate routine database loading, maintenance, and monitoring tasks to boost efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance and best practices for database design, migration, and integration initiatives.
Requirements
- 5+ years hands-on experience in database design, administration, and optimization for Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or SAP HANA.
- Knowledge of database design principles, data loading techniques, backup and recovery solutions, performance monitoring and tuning, maintenance, and security.
- Scripting skills in SQL and Python for automation and data workflows.
- Familiarity with geospatial concepts, including spatial data types, coordinate systems, and spatial indexing.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to technical peers and non-technical project managers or customers.
- U.S. citizenship with an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility (current within the past two years).
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, GIS, or related STEM field.
