Job Description

Data Analyst for the Violence Prevention Initiatives (VPI) within the Bureau of Health Equity Capacity Building supports data collection, analytics, dashboard maintenance, and reporting to inform violence prevention programs in New York City. This onsite role is based in Queens, NY, with a salary range of USD 87,743 to 100,904 per year. Candidates should hold a Doctorate and have a minimum of one year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with program staff and partners to design and refine data collection instruments and improve data systems and processes.
Partner with program stakeholders to establish specific, measurable metrics for operational and performance management.
Use SAS or R to process, clean, and prepare data for analysis and reporting; perform regular data checks; document data management procedures such as data dictionaries; monitor data quality; and resolve issues in collaboration with program staff and partners.
Prepare routine reports and presentations on program performance, and clearly communicate results to program staff, partners, leadership, and non-technical audiences; contribute to scientific articles for publication.
Maintain and update existing dashboards as needed using PHPC, Tableau or Power BI; assist in developing new dashboards as required.
Respond promptly and accurately to ad hoc data requests from internal audiences (e.g., Directors, Assistant Commissioners) and external audiences (e.g., public hearings, City Hall).
Work with leadership and program stakeholders to interpret results and acknowledge limitations of data analyses.
Develop training materials and conduct trainings on updates to data collection systems; create guidance documents for internal staff and external users; provide data technical assistance to external users.
Participate in workgroups and cross-agency committees related to community violence prevention research and data.
Manage multiple projects and collaborate with other research and program staff; incorporate an equity lens in all aspects of work.
Conduct special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Assignment Level I: A master's degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological or environmental science or in public health.
Assignment Level II and above: Candidates must meet one of the following pathways:
- Doctorate degree in a relevant field with specialization in physical, biological, environmental or social science, plus one year of full-time supervisory, administrative or research experience in the field.
- Master's degree in a relevant field with specialization in physical, biological, environmental or social science, plus three years of responsible full-time research experience in the field.
- Education and/or experience equivalent to the above options, provided the candidate holds at least a master's degree in the field and has at least two years of the described experience; two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can substitute for the experience required in the first two options.
Note: Probationary period of one year applies to appointments.

infopeople corporation is seeking an Azure Data Engineer with Power BI and C# .NET experience to design, build, and maintain cloud-based data solutions within a government domain. This onsite role in Queens, NY centers on delivering scalable data pipelines, analytics, and reporting capabilities that support government initiatives.

Responsibilities

Design and implement scalable data pipelines leveraging Azure Data Lake, Spark, Hadoop, and ETL tools such as Informatica and Talend to handle large-scale structured and unstructured data.
Create and optimize data models, data warehouses, and relational databases (MS SQL Server, Oracle, and others) to enable analytics and reporting.

Requirements

Proven experience as an Azure Data Engineer or similar role in government or enterprise environments.
Strong proficiency in Azure data services, including Azure Data Lake and Azure Data Factory, for cloud-based data management.
Hands-on Power BI experience to create visualizations and reports; familiarity with Looker is a plus.
Proficient in C# .NET; Python for data analysis or automation tasks is highly desirable.
Deep understanding of big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Apache Hive, and ecosystems like Kafka or related frameworks.
Extensive experience with SQL Server and Oracle databases; solid database design principles.
Familiarity with ETL tools like Informatica or Talend; modeling and analysis skills for training data are advantageous.
Knowledge of RESTful API development for secure data exchange; experience in an Agile environment.
