Job Description
Wipro Limited is hiring an AI Engineer to lead AI-focused workflows across the System Development Life Cycle, working at the intersection of GenAI and complex financial domains. In this onsite role in Austin, Texas, you will help build intelligent systems that support retirement security at scale, with direct impact on millions of people.
What you’ll do
- Lead AI-focused workflows across the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Build intelligent systems that directly impact retirement security.
Key experience and technical expectations
- Demonstrated exposure to, or hands-on experience with, GenAI coding assistants in day-to-day engineering workflows across the SDLC, including implementation, refactoring, unit testing, regression support, code reviews, scripting/automation, troubleshooting, and documentation, while applying engineering judgment and validation.
- Practical familiarity with tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code.
- Use AI assistance for common development tasks (code suggestions, test generation, review support, automation scripts, troubleshooting) with clear ownership for correctness and quality.
- Apply GenAI in ways that reduce context switching and accelerate delivery across typical workflows (not limited to writing new code).
- Practical familiarity with GitHub Copilot and/or Claude Code within IDE/CLI-style workflows.
- Working knowledge of agentic workflows, spec-driven development (translating low-level design artifacts such as class structures, API contracts, and data models into structured specs that guide AI-assisted implementation), and custom instructions and prompt engineering, including the ability to establish team-level practices for AI-assisted development.
- Hands-on experience implementing and deploying AI/ML in production.
- Hands-on experience working with containers and microservices in the cloud.
- Hands-on experience with cloud deployment in CI/CD (continuous integration and continuous delivery).
- Hands-on experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), or AWS or GCP.
- Experience working with databases such as MongoDB, Aerospike, and/or PostgreSQL.
- Experience in IT transformations and system modernization initiatives, such as moving from Mainframe Cobol apps/DB2 to Java apps/SQL or MongoDB.
- Hands-on experience with Large Language Models (for example, GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, PaLM).
- Hand-on experience developing large-scale software using Java, the Spring framework, cloud development, and web services supporting high-volume transactions in a highly available environment.
Domain and collaboration
- Understanding of broker-dealer capabilities and operations.
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to communicate and lead other engineers in a collaborative environment.
- A collaborative mindset with a bias for action to engage with fellow developers, architects, and adjacent teams.
- AI/ML solution architecting skills (mandatory).
Required education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5–8 years of experience.
Preferred qualifications
- Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, related degree, or related practical experience.
- Good knowledge of messaging technologies (Rabbit MQ, Kafka, or equivalent).
- Experience in the Financial Services industry.
- Experience with Test Driven Development, QA Automation, and a quality-minded approach.
- Proficiency in creating Visio diagrams, architectural and design documentation, and functional and technical specifications, including automated test process documentation.
- Willingness to learn all aspects of the tech stack and document work.
- Ability to research and document production and test environments along with architecture and design work.
- Knowledge of Agile methodology and experience in an Agile working environment.
- Experience with the Atlassian tool stack (JIRA and Confluence).
Location and compensation
- Location: Austin, Texas (onsite)
- Salary range: USD 60,000–135,000 per year
