AI Engineer

Wilshire Law Firm is hiring an AI Engineer in Los Angeles, CA to build and maintain AI tools and support responsible rollout of new AI capabilities across the firm.

• Build and maintain AI-powered tools and workflows to address practical business needs
• Evaluate emerging AI models, platforms, and development tools; recommend where they can be applied
• Configure and manage AI platforms, including user roles, permissions, tool access, and safeguards
• Provide advanced technical support for AI tools and engineering-level issues beyond standard helpdesk
• Train and enable employees on AI fundamentals, plus newly introduced tools and workflows
• Partner across the firm to understand team needs and translate them into usable solutions
• Apply judgment for privacy, security, legal considerations, and responsible AI use in a legal environment
• Maintain existing solutions to keep them understandable, reliable, and useful over time
• Share reusable approaches and contribute to the broader technical community when appropriate

Requirements

• 5–10 years of relevant experience, with a strong software engineering background
• Proven experience building projects or tools, professionally or independently, with the ability to explain the problem, approach, and outcomes
• Experience with AI tools and platforms such as Claude and GPT; familiarity with Grok or other AI platforms is a plus
• Experience with JavaScript and/or Python, including backend or full-stack development, APIs, or platform integrations
• Ability to assess, debug, and maintain software, including code built with AI assistance
• Strong communication skills, including translating technical concepts for audiences with different technical backgrounds
• Sound enterprise judgment, including awareness of access control, privacy, security, and legal considerations
• UX experience or a demonstrated interest in making tools intuitive and easy to use is a plus
• Open-source contributions are valued but not required
