AI Engineer

SYNCHRON TEK LLC is hiring a Senior AI Engineer for a hybrid role based in Buffalo, NY (14206). In this position, you will help deliver secure, reliable AI-enabled applications and backend services that support firmwide products and workflows, combining software engineering with enterprise search, retrieval, and language model capabilities across the organization.

What you’ll do

• Design, build, and support secure, reliable AI-enabled applications and backend services used across firmwide products and workflows.
• Partner with product, application, data, security, and business teams to move solutions from technical design through production adoption.

Key technical focus

You will work with enterprise search and generative AI patterns, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), embeddings, and large and small language models, deployed on cloud AI platforms. The role also emphasizes building production-ready systems with strong engineering practices around CI/CD, evaluation, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, artificial intelligence, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 10+ years of professional software engineering or related experience, including substantial work on backend services, APIs, applications, or distributed systems.
• 2+ years building or integrating generative AI or LLM-based solutions in applications or business systems.
• Strong programming skills with C#/.NET preferred; experience with Python or another production language such as Java, JavaScript, or TypeScript is valuable.
• Proven ability to design and integrate APIs and services, delivering software from development through deployment and production support.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, cloud deployment, logging, monitoring, and production troubleshooting.
• Understanding of secure software development, data privacy, and responsible use of AI, including the ability to communicate technical decisions clearly to technical and non-technical colleagues.

Technology environment

Work will involve C#/.NET, Python, REST APIs, and Azure cloud, including Azure AI Foundry and Azure OpenAI, as well as ChatGPT Enterprise. You may also use Microsoft Agent Framework, Elasticsearch, and capabilities for embeddings, vector and semantic search, and RAG. Engineering practices include CI/CD, automated evaluation, monitoring, and production observability.

Pay and location

$70.00–$75.00 per hour. Hybrid remote in Buffalo, NY 14206.
