Asst Dir-Applied AI Engineer

Moody’s is hiring an Applied AI Engineering leader to build and deliver production AI software across the organization, from discovery through launch.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead development of AI-powered software solutions that address real business problems across Moody’s, end-to-end from discovery through production
• Find high-friction opportunities across the business and design software that resolves them effectively
• Develop full-stack applications powered by modern AI tooling while maintaining end-to-end ownership of delivery
• Lead technical design and direction for assigned projects, including clear articulation of tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Spend meaningful time with end users to understand workflows and translate insights into product decisions
• Ship systems to production and remain accountable for quality and performance after launch
• Review, test, and approve code to ensure quality, consistency, and alignment with engineering standards
• Support and mentor engineers on the team, contributing to technical growth and development
• Drive continuous improvement in team practices, tooling, and standards

Requirements

• Strong generalist engineering experience with the ability to design, build, and deliver reliable full-stack software
• Proficiency in Python (or similar) for backend services and AI workloads, plus TypeScript or React (or comparable frameworks) for frontend development
• Hands-on experience with GoLang, AWS, and Kubernetes / Hashi Stack (must haves)
• Hands-on experience deploying large language models in production, including retrieval-augmented generation, evaluations, and deployment
• Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure and containerization, including operational responsibilities associated with owning production services
• Experience working with complex, real-world data sources including documents, contracts, and internal enterprise systems
• Product instinct to translate user needs into software decisions and communicate technical tradeoffs to non-engineers
• Ability to lead projects independently and collaborate effectively with others
• Deep expertise in artificial intelligence, with a track record implementing advanced AI solutions to support strategic transformation and operational efficiency
• Strong experience using AI tools to lead innovation initiatives
• Demonstrated leadership in managing AI-related risks, ensuring ethical governance, and fostering a culture of responsible AI adoption

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
