Aviation Safety Data Analyst
Job Description
ATAC is seeking an Aviation Safety Data Analyst to support the WJHTC safety research team with analysis of air traffic control and aviation-related data sourced from existing FAA systems. This is a full-time position in Santa Clara, CA, with an anticipated duration of approximately three to six months.
Role Overview
The position focuses on turning aviation safety data into actionable insights. Key work includes defining safety metrics, automating analysis and report generation, restructuring historical datasets, and contributing to visualization and related documentation efforts.
Responsibilities
- Partner with in-house FAA researchers and laboratory personnel, developers, programmers, contract support, and research partners such as NASA, MITRE, and other universities to advance separations standards analysis capabilities.
- Develop new aviation safety metrics.
- Support data analyses by automating analysis workflows and report generation.
- Assist with user interface and visualization development.
- Restructure and process historical data for analysis readiness.
- Support development of functional requirements and software documentation.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate of Science (AS) in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience: 3+ years of related job experience.
- Strong software development skills.
- Proficiency with Big Data analytics.
- Proficiency with cloud-based solutions.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, along with strong interpersonal relations skills.
- Ability to work as a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
Desired Attributes
- Aviation safety experience.
- Proficiency with AI/ML tools.
- Experience with Palantir Foundry.
- Knowledge of the current air traffic management system.
- Experience with current FAA data repositories.

Location and Compensation
Location: Santa Clara, CA (onsite).
Salary: USD 55,000 to 62,000 per year.
