The Software Engineer III - BI Developer & Data Analyst role at JPMorgan Chase is based onsite in Chicago, IL. The position focuses on maintaining Alteryx workflows and Tableau dashboards within the Global Banking and Payments Technology group, while supporting data visualization development and Agile delivery practices.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance current Alteryx workflows.
- Develop new Tableau dashboards and maintain existing ones.
- Support backlog refinement and prioritization with the team lead.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to collect data, analyze processes, and propose improvements to strengthen controls.
- Design and build workflows that interact with API endpoints.
- Conduct thorough testing of dashboards for functionality, data accuracy, and performance.
- Proactively identify data patterns and issues to improve coding hygiene and system architecture.
- Promote UI/UX standardization across all visualizations.
- Utilize enterprise‑approved AI coding assistance to enhance code quality, speed, and productivity on complex deliverables, while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding practices; share learnings and reusable patterns with the team.
- Apply tools within the SDLC toolchain, including AI‑assisted development and automation capabilities, to maximize automation value.
- Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events exploring new technologies.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering with 3+ years of practical experience.
- Extensive experience with data wrangling tools such as Alteryx.
- Experience integrating Python within Alteryx workflows.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, with the ability to write complex SQL queries involving multiple joins to automate extracts via Alteryx/macros.
- Experience building medium to complex Tableau dashboards.
- Familiarity with data warehouse concepts and hands‑on experience in relational and dimensional modeling.
- Hands‑on use of enterprise‑approved AI‑assisted development tools for coding, testing, troubleshooting, or documentation, with ability to evaluate and refine AI outputs for accuracy, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI usage in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and resilience and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe usage within team practices.
