Data Engineer
Job Description
Senior data/analytics software engineer responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying data and analytics solutions across enterprise environments, leading ETL/ELT pipelines, cloud migration, and CI/CD/DevSecOps initiatives with hybrid work options.
Responsibilities
- Act as the lead technical developer for end-to-end design, implementation, testing, and deployment of data and analytics capabilities across enterprise data warehouses, analytics tools, and cloud-native services.
- Oversee ETL/ELT pipeline development, data ingestion, and transformation logic to modernize from on-premises SQL Server to cloud data warehouse environments.
- Create and maintain data architecture artifacts, including source-to-target mappings, data flow diagrams, and related technical documentation.
- Develop efficient code to support monthly and ad hoc data refresh cycles, data validation, and performance targets across large-scale data environments.
- Navigate multi-framework Agile delivery by breaking down requirements into user stories, estimating effort, participating in sprints, and ensuring traceability of work.
- Work with architects, cloud engineers, DBAs, data stewards, and platform operations to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and adherence to security, audit, and governance policies.
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD components that enable continuous integration and deployment across both cloud and on-prem environments.
- Perform unit, integration, regression, performance, and security testing; document results and remediate defects as needed.
- Facilitate release management activities, including packaging builds, promoting code, managing versions, and deploying changes per enterprise change control policies.
- Mentor junior developers, uphold development standards, and participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality, secure software.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and contribute to ongoing improvements in reliability, performance, and maintainability of EDM platforms.
Requirements
- Eight or more years of experience leading data and analytics projects with enterprise scope and complexity, spanning on-premises and cloud environments.
- Hands-on development experience with SQL Server, ETL/ELT processes, stored procedures, data modeling, and performance tuning in enterprise data warehouse environments.
- Demonstrated experience developing solutions for cloud-based data platforms.
- Proven ability to design, document, and implement scalable data ingestion, transformation, and provisioning solutions across complex enterprise data ecosystems.
- Proficiency in DevSecOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, automation scripting, environment configuration, and testing frameworks.
- Experience writing, maintaining, and executing test plans, test scripts, automated test suites, and traceability artifacts in accordance with SDLC standards.
- Ability to work within multi-team Agile environments, participating in sprint planning, daily standups, backlog refinement, and sprint reviews.
- Strong understanding of enterprise change management, release management, and configuration management processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
