Clinical Data Analyst

Rush University Medical Center is hiring a Clinical Data Analyst to support research, clinical, quality improvement, and business analytics efforts. This role helps clinical faculty and Principal Investigators identify and collect needed data, then build the databases and query-ready structures required for analysis and reporting. Working with the Knowledge Management Team and analytics leadership, you will help translate clinical questions into feasible data solutions across multi-site environments.

What you will do

• Collect business and data requirements from clinical faculty and Principal Investigators, then collaborate on study design or cohort build plans based on what is available in existing systems.
• Bridge clinical expertise and IT to assess feasibility, timelines, and costs for data requests.
• Develop queries and visualizations using third-party software tools and the research data warehouse currently in development.
• Create research data marts aligned with the enterprise IT architecture.
• Represent the Knowledge Management Team on committees and initiatives involving multi-site studies to support IT and research informatics collaboration.
• Participate in analytics projects that use data collected from electronic medical records to measure and predict patient outcomes.
• Partner with statisticians and mathematicians to design predictive models using statistical and machine learning methods to predict patient outcomes.
• Build analytic datasets for research and operations, and analyze them using SAS or R as requested by departmental faculty.
• Produce reports that support evidence-based clinical and financial decisions.
• Coordinate with the CRIO/CMIO/Knowledge Management team to develop new data queries and toolsets.
• Serve as a member of the IT business intelligence/knowledge management team at Rush, maintaining peer relationships and collaborative knowledge exchange with IT counterparts.

Skills and qualifications

• Master’s degree in information science, computer science, epidemiology, biostatistics, or equivalent technical experience.
• Strong analytical skills, issue resolution capability, and facilitation experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency writing SQL stored procedures or queries.
• Ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively.
• Strong prioritization and multi-tasking skills to manage expectations across multiple stakeholders.
• Capability to deliver high-quality, timely work independently.
• Ability to adapt effectively to changing project direction and evolving data requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, plus effective teamwork and interpersonal abilities.
• Expertise with data and analytics tools, including experience querying and analyzing data with SQL or equivalent tools.

Preferred qualifications

Location: Chicago, IL (remote). Compensation: USD 34 - 51 per hour.
