Data Analyst
Job Description
Sporting Kansas City is seeking a Data Analyst based in Center, TX (onsite) to deliver performance-focused insights and support data-driven decision-making for soccer stakeholders. The role combines analysis, reporting, visualization, and the development of benchmarking and decision-support tools across the First Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide club-wide data and analytical support to improve data understanding, adoption, and practical application.
- Partner with soccer stakeholders to translate insights into performance strategies.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with coaches, analysts, scouts, physical performance coaches, and other key stakeholders.
- Communicate analytical findings clearly and concisely to coaches, technical staff, leadership, and ownership.
- Address performance questions by translating data into straightforward, actionable recommendations.
- Support the development and delivery of pre-match, post-match, and opposition profiling reports.
- Deliver high-quality individual and team research projects designed to improve performance and support decision-making.
- Lead data visualization initiatives and support the creation and delivery of multiple tools.
- Develop and maintain player, team, and league benchmarking frameworks to support objective decision-making.
- Support recruitment and squad planning using benchmarking, profiling, and market analysis.
- Query, gather, and manipulate data from multiple sources.
- Work with event, tracking, and physical performance datasets to build custom metrics.
- Build decision-support tools and reports that can be presented and distributed throughout the club.
- Support data best practices across the club, aligning with the broader club data strategy and contributing to the continuous development of SKC’s reporting ecosystem.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in data science or a related STEM subject.
- Experience using SQL and Python and/or R for data management and analysis.
- Previous experience with Tableau or comparable data visualization software.
- Previous experience working with data and delivering insights within a pro soccer club.
- Demonstrated strong communication skills to translate data into actionable insights.
- Creative and curious problem-solving approach with a positive attitude toward new challenges.
- Proactive, eager-to-learn mindset and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail, with evidence of ongoing development of analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- Strong understanding of the technical and tactical aspects of soccer.
- Evidence of experience working in the MLS.
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions
- Ability to work in an office, stadium, and outdoor environments, with travel as required.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
