Job Description

The Data Analyst at School Health Clinics of Santa Clara County plays a key role in powering reporting and analytics across school-based healthcare operations. This part-time, onsite position focuses on building, validating, and distributing reports and dashboards while supporting technical needs for healthcare reporting and business intelligence, including regulatory and compliance deliverables.

Working with Epic and related reporting tools, you will translate business requirements into data management solutions and provide hands-on support for users and clinical teams. The role also includes participation in business systems planning and occasional OCHIN EHR Support Analyst responsibilities as needed.

Key responsibilities

  • Gather, analyze, document, and translate business requirements into reporting, analytics, and data management solutions.
  • Develop, maintain, validate, and distribute reports, dashboards, and data extracts using Epic, SQL, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Tableau, Excel, and other reporting tools.
  • Support regulatory and compliance reporting requirements including UDS, HCAI, health plan reporting, grant reporting, supplemental data submissions, and other organizational reporting obligations.
  • Perform ad-hoc data analysis using OCHIN Epic Reporting Workbench, OCHIN Epic Clarity, OCHIN Epic Crystal Reports, OCHIN Epic SAP Business Objects, and application analytics packages.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for reporting systems, Epic applications, analytics tools, and business system applications.
  • Document issues and resolutions in the user-facing helpdesk knowledgebase.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of the overall business systems roadmap, supporting changing business needs, objectives, and resource allocation.
  • Provide technical support to end-users for business system applications.
  • Manage multiple simultaneous projects and tasks with changing priorities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
  • Assist in enforcing project deadlines and schedules, contributing to organizational functional knowledge as needed.
  • Identify and execute opportunities to improve process workflows; determine and define business requirements based on government regulations and business needs.
  • Provide direct support to clinical operation and patient care teams to support the introduction, acceptance, integration, and optimal use of the Epic application in the clinic.
  • Provide daily support to application users through troubleshooting, coaching, and consulting; maintain member-managed system setups such as the provider master file, security, and preference lists.
  • For EHR support, collaborate with clinicians and follow established EMR processes; collaborate with OCHIN to test new features and upgrades prior to implementation.
  • Attend appropriate clinic department meetings as Epic expert and as OCHIN liaison.
  • Maintain Enterprise Practice setups including Clinic Resource, Security rights and user accounts, Definitions, Fee Schedule, and Procedure Code tables; manage user accounts.
  • Generate metric reports as needed; attend workshops, training, and meetings as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor; work a flexible schedule and overtime, as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Health Information, Public Health, or related field preferred, or at least 1 year of proven experience.
  • Minimum one year working with computer systems related to healthcare.
  • Minimum one year of data analysis experience, with focus on health data preferred.
  • Proficiency in FQHC-related data reporting, specifically UDS, HEDIS, and Clinical Quality Measures.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Proficiency in SQL.
  • Proficiency in other data reporting and development tools such as Tableau, R, SAS, Python; Business Objects desired but not required.
  • Proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications such as Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to learn new skills related to healthcare; ability to assume sole and independent responsibility for assigned projects and tasks.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to significant matters.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, strong business acumen and insight into clinical processes.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail; strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify potential issues and participate in their resolution; ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to complete projects with tight deadlines and time constraints.
  • Solid understanding of the implementation process and interdependencies between operations and technology.
