Job Description
The Data Analytics Engineer will own the unified data layer, transform raw feeds into clean, well documented tables, and establish the canonical source of truth for customer dashboards and product analytics as Broccoli AI's first dedicated data hire. This onsite role is based in San Francisco, CA.
Responsibilities
- Build and run data pipelines to ensure reliable ingestion from all sources into ClickHouse, selecting tooling and owning the end-to-end flow.
- Model the data by turning raw feeds into clean, documented tables, including entity resolution so a customer is consistently identified across billing, support, and call data.
- Develop the source-of-truth library with canonical views and metric definitions that underpin every dashboard and analysis.
- Make data human and AI ready by structuring models, definitions, and documentation so both people and AI agents can query them and obtain correct results; build internal tools to enable Broccoli to ask data questions with trusted responses.
- Maintain trustworthiness through freshness checks, quality tests, and alerts to catch issues before customers are affected.
- Perform deep dives as needed for ad-hoc analyses, segment investigations, and partner questions.
- Collaborate closely with engineering to understand data storage, schemas, events, and architecture, and provide early input to ensure landed data is usable, stable, and easy to model.
Requirements
- 4 to 8+ years in data or analytics engineering, with hands-on experience building and operating production pipelines end to end and a history of being paged for incidents.
- Strong SQL and Python skills, with hands-on experience in ETL tooling (Airbyte, Fivetran, Dagster, dbt, or custom solutions) and orchestration.
- Direct experience with a columnar data warehouse; ClickHouse preferred, with transferability to BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift.
- Data modeling as a craft: you have designed tables that others query and care about the meaning behind the numbers, not solely the flow of data.
