ExxonMobil offers an onsite Data Engineer role in Spring, TX within the Data Solutions group of the Development Strategy Team. The position focuses on designing and operating data pipelines, analytics, automation, and data management to support sustainable products and platforms. What you will do

  • Create and implement automated data workflows using Python, GIS, SQL, Spotfire, Alteryx, MS Power Platform and more to reduce manual errors, standardize data, and uphold governance and data integrity.
  • Improve and expand existing systems while building new capabilities as needed.
  • Design, build, test, document, deploy, monitor, and support end-to-end data pipelines.
  • Develop analytical dashboards with Spotfire and Databricks, and web frameworks such as Shiny and React.
  • Collaborate with domain experts, data scientists, and engineers to capture needs, constraints, and limitations.
  • Build ETL processes and manage integrations across multiple systems and data sources.
  • Prepare technical data for interpretation, perform analyses, and create final presentations of results for formal reviews.
  • Show a willingness to learn, experiment, and grow through new challenges.

What we require

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Geoscience, or Analytics.
  • Self-directed with the ability to support data needs across multiple teams, systems, and products.
  • Motivation to optimize or redesign the company data architecture to enable next generation products and initiatives.
  • Proficiency in SQL with experience querying relational databases, views, and normalized schemas.
  • Programming proficiency, preferably Python, with solid grounding in algorithms, clean code, and environment management.
  • Experience with enterprise ETL tools such as Alteryx, Azure Synapse, and Azure Data Factory.
  • Experience performing root cause analyses on data and processes to answer business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ability to build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependencies, and workload management.
  • Proven history of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large, disparate datasets.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in dynamic environments.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and automation of existing workflows and processes.
  • Experience building and optimizing large-scale data pipelines, architectures, and datasets.
  • Knowledge of Angular, JavaScript, C#, and Java programming languages.
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies: Azure, AWS, and GCP.
  • Expertise in Databricks and Snowflake.
  • Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and scalable big data data stores.
  • Oil and gas industry experience.
