Data Engineer
Job Description
DCI Solutions is hiring a Data Engineer in Washington, D.C. for an onsite role supporting a cross-functional team. The position focuses on integrating and transforming data and building applications that enable operational decision-making, with an active Secret security clearance required.
Role Overview
Serve as a Data Engineer on a collaborative, cross-functional team to address priority problems through reliable data integration, transformation, and application development. Work includes setting up data feed transfers from source systems, building Spark-based transformations for distributed computation, and designing solutions that answer operational questions.
Responsibilities
- Act as a Data Engineer on a cross-functional team to support solutions for pressing business needs
- Integrate data, transform insights, and build applications that support operational decisions
- Set up transfers for data feeds from source systems into the required location
- Write transformations and derive new datasets using Spark for distributed computation
- Monitor build progress and debug build issues as they arise
- Design applications that address operational questions and support platform use cases
- Execute requests for information (RFI’s) related to the platform’s data footprint
- Collaborate with product teams while debugging and understanding code behind the platform
Required Qualifications
- Education: BS in Computer Science / Engineering (or a related career field)
- Security: Active Secret security clearance (Required)
- Programming: Extensive coding/programming experience in Python
- Data: Extensive coding/programming experience in SQL, R or similar
- Foundational knowledge: Strong understanding of algorithms and data structures as they relate to development
- Data engineering background: Strong background in data engineering
- In-person work location: Work location is in person
Preferred Qualifications
- Data ecosystem experience: Experience with Spark, PySpark, and/or Pandas
- Foundry: Experience with Foundry is preferred
- Experience (preferred): 5 years in data engineering, Python coding/programming, building and managing data pipelines, and data transformation
- Additional experience (preferred): 1 year with Foundry, 3 years with Spark and/or PySpark, and 3 years with Pandas

Location and Compensation

- Salary: USD 175,000 - 260,000 per year
