Data Engineer

Join Eaton in Carol Stream, IL (onsite) and help build the data foundation that supports business reporting, analytics, and day-to-day operational decisions. This role focuses on designing and maintaining enterprise data systems, improving data quality through integration and governance, and delivering insights through Power BI reporting and visualization.

You will work closely with business leaders and technical teams to translate reporting needs into reliable data solutions. Expect a mix of development and optimization across ETL processes, Oracle database work, automated reporting, and troubleshooting to ensure end users have accurate, accessible data.

What you’ll do

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise data solutions and database structures
• Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from SAP, Oracle, and other business systems
• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models for business operations and strategic decision-making
• Create and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects within Oracle environments
• Integrate and manage data from multiple sources to improve accuracy, consistency, and accessibility
• Collaborate with business leaders to identify reporting requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Analyze large datasets to identify trends, opportunities, and performance metrics
• Develop automated reporting processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort
• Maintain data governance standards, security protocols, and data integrity across platforms
• Support system upgrades, testing, and implementation efforts involving SAP and Oracle applications
• Document data processes, reporting standards, and technical specifications
• Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues while providing ongoing support to end users

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field
• Minimum 1 year of experience with Oracle databases and SQL development (coop/internship experience accepted)
• Ability to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future
• No relocation benefit; candidates must be within a 50-mile radius of the facility (Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt)

Helpful experience

• Experience with Azure Data Services, Data Factory, or other cloud-based data platforms
• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and best practices
• Advanced Power BI administration experience
• Familiarity with ERP systems and enterprise reporting environments
• Relevant certifications in Power BI, Oracle, SAP, or Data Engineering
• Experience with SAP data structures, reporting, and data extraction processes
• Microsoft Power BI proficiency, including dashboard development and data modeling
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (PivotTables, Power Query, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis functions)
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Compensation and benefits

Salary range: USD 71,000 - 105,000 per year.
